The Downtown Merchants Association is comprised of a group of merchants working in conjunction with local economic agencies and small businesses to revitalize the downtown area.

They have been a host to a number of activities to include the annual downtown Mardi Gras Celebration for the City of Albany which has brought over 8,000 people for the one day event. In 2006, the Mardi Gras Celebration was expanded to include a bike race.
